yesterday, it was determined guy kleess was, in fact, at fault for the xrash that caused more than $1 million in damage. a commission voting to revoke his license. but, a judge must make that final decision 5:02. a follow-up now on an investigation at the richmond chevron refinery that could mean relief at the gas pump. cal oesha spends dozens of item on the operation. 60% since the fire broke out last august. they are assured safety standards are met. chevron could operate at full capacity in days. that means, gas prices could go down. two state lawmakers will hold a public meeting in richmond today to discuss the findings of that investigation. >> one major question on this friday. you ready for some baseball. we are live at at&t park all

morning long. today's in the bay's bob redell joins us with what's going on. >> reporter: good morning. threet-game series against the st. louis cardinals starts here today at at&t park, first pitch at 1:35. what makes this home opener different than any other in major league baseball is the factor as you mentioned, that the giants are coming off their 2012 world series win. they will be celebrating. at sunday's game, the players will be present td with their 2012 world series rings. tomorrow, the team will honor catcher, buster posy for his taking of the national mvp award and today, the team will raise the 2012 world series flag here at at&t park. this is the second time the team has done that in three years. you might recall the home opener in 2011 when giants great willie mays walked out the 2010 flag. not clear if someone will do that today. this afternoon's flag ceremony

it. we want to check your drive with our very own anthony slaughter. it is the thickest in the north bay as you can see from our golden gate perspective. lots of fog. visibility down to a quarter of a mile here and in the north bay. if you are doing any traveling in the north bay, particularly, we are seeing some construction going on right now on 12 and 29. that's causing some slowdowns specially on 12 and 29 northbound headed up toward napa. if this is your route this morning or anywhere in the north bay, heads up. there is dense fog out there right now. that will continue to form and spread across the rest of the region as we head through the early morning hours. this is our troubled spot right now. the north bay. guys, back to you. we have new details this morning in a story that happened across the pacific ocean in hawaii. it turned a bay area police officer into a big-time hero. the off-duty officer literally jumping into action in order to stop an attack on a tsa officer.

"today in the bay's" marla tallez live in the newsroom with this wild story and his reaction. also, some pretty amazing video. marla, good morning. >> it is kind of fun to see. this all happened inside honolulu international airport. thanks to some security tape that we can bring it to you. here is the story. justin rogers, a police officer was simply trying to get through airport security on his way home from vacation when he noticed this tsa agent getting attacked by a woman. >> you see the woman here. the security guard. she was guarding the passenger exit. this woman knocked down a sign out of nowhere and starts attacking and punching her. this goes on for about ten seconds or so. >> then, there you go. also, out of nowhere, here comes officer rogers. he clears that glass barrier and takes her down and puts her hand up. yeah, he has got this. no problem. you will also notice here, he is only wearing his socks because he just had taken off his shoes. it turns ott the woman is homeless, arrested and taken to a hospital for mentally

valuation. the tsa is applausing justin rogers actions. it released this statement saying, his actions coupled with the quick response by airport security, ensured that the integrity of the airport's sterile area was maintained minimizing disruptions to the traveling public. we are happy to report that the tsa officer was not seriously hurt and neither was our heroic pannol police officer who was obviously well-trained. we are going to be hearing from him coming up in our next live report. >> that's called springing into action. that was great stuff. >> you've got to do what you've got to do 5:09. 5:10. we'll go back live to at&t park for your full forecast coming up. the president's trip to the bay area coming with controversy. the comments that are now making headlines across the country. big day in business news. you have jobs friday and a shakeup but hewlett-packard and we are going to connect the

he was brought in to repair the disaster under the previous ceo. hp has an interim chairman. >> it is jobs friday this 15 minutes. in 18 minutes, the latest monthly unemployment report. let's turn to brian shactman live at cnbc world headquarters. good morning, brian. you know how it is every single month, the biggest report of the month. it is extremely important. right now, stock futures are down about 70 points against fair value ahead of the significant report, which is the job numbers for march. economists are looking for another month of steady hiring with forecasts calling for companies to have added about 200,000 jobs. i do want to point out some of the estimates have been lowered after the adp report and the jobless claims. holding steady at 7.7%. we get data on the trade deficits and consumer credits. yesterday, the dow was up 55 to

14606. we are about 15 minutes away from that number. back to you. >> jon and laura, i want to call your attention to japan this morning. japan has big trouble, the third largest economy in the world behind america and china. it has been in recession pretty much forever. it is suffering from deflation, incredibly low prices. what do you do? the japanese have come up with a plan that some economists have labeled in sane. the central bank there is going to inject the equivalent of 2 trillion american dollars, trillion with a "t," into the economy over the next couple of years. this is going to drive-in vest stores out of government bonds. it is going to make people's savings accounts pay nearly nothing in interest encouraging to spend the money they have saved or at least that's the theory. you know that scene in hunger games where they set fire to the forest to bring everyone together. this is pretty much the economic

find the skipper. this is where he watches the game. i know because i sit right there with marla tallez usually. this is where he stands and looks out at what's happening. not just that. we are in the dugout. this is something i have always dreamed of doing. i'm going to put my buns where the giants like to put their buns and, yes, it just happened and, yeah, i feel something. i definitely feel something. now, we are definitely feeling some mild temperatures out here this morning. we're in the upper 50s, low 60s across the bay area. there is a little drizzle. i don't need a jacket. i'm sensitive to the cold. you probably won't need the heavy coat. you can leave the umbrella at home but there is more rain in the near future. you made it to friday. we have a good-looking weekend shaping up. a few showers on the way for saturday morning. we're going to see some showers as well on sunday but it looks like the best timing to are those showers on sunday, we'll get a quick round in the morning. late night sunday, we have some moderate, even some heavy rainfall on the way to the north bay at the very least.

we could see this front slide all the way to the south bay. that's what we are watching for. count on some showers sunday night into early monday after which time we get through that rain. we are going to warm up so nicely. warmest air of the year so far is on the way for next week. today's highs look good. upper 60s. a couple of 70s. gilroy for example. your seven-day tells the story. it is going to be nice temperaturewise. starting monday into tuesday, that warmup is on. by wednesday, we are talking about the warmest air of the season so far. potential 90s in the bay area. you want to make sure you are ready for that. if you can, plan a beach day. i am back live at&t park where the skipper stands. it is really cool. we are going to be showing you more behind the scenes all morning long. i want to take a look at your drive. there is a little drizzle out there, anthony. no significant fog. i didn't have any from campbell up the peninsula into the city. what are we working with?

>> the fog is concentrated along the north bay. you can see visibility down to less than a quarter of a mile. forget they have head lights on. let's take you down to the east shore freeway approaching the bay bridge tollway. there have been pockets of fog that have been drifting across the camera. it will begin to form, specially in your early morning commute, if you are taking oakland or the bay bridge toll plaza. here, you can see traffic moving smoothly at 5:18. not too bad. this is a typical commute that starts to stack up this time of morning. you will notice fog traveling through 84 and sunol. all morning long, that fog is holding on tightly. otherwise, no major accidents to report here at 5:19. guys, back to you. >> we have new details this

morning on a deadly shooting in gilroy. we first told you about yesterday. police today still looking for that gunman. one man was killed. another remains in critical condition after shots were fired wednesday night near that downtown area. both men were walking from a nearby market before they were attacked. one of those victims was a father of two trying to get his life back together after being released from jail. police do not have a motive for the shooting. sexist or complimentary. president obama taking heat for something he said during a fund-raiser here during the bay area. he introduced long supporter, attorney general, kamala har ris saying, quote, she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough. she also happens to be by far the best looking attorney general in the country. kamala harris is here. some were calling that sexist and terrible for work place equality. the head of the friends of san

this is "today in the bay." good morning to you. thanks so much for joining us. i'm laura garcia cannon. >> i'm jon kelley. we start this morning with breaking news. police still searching the san francisco state university campus on the hunt for the man who ripped off a taxi cab. "today in the bay's" arturo santiago has video of this wild high-speed chase. good morning, arturo. >> good morning, jon. the suspect is still at-large. police are actively looking for him. they just cleared the scene here on campus at san francisco state university. that includes the stolen cab. we do have video of the suspect. police said going after the suspect. this started just after 2:00 this morning in the south of market area. san francisco police located a stolen cab. that driver took off leading officers on a short chase through surface streets and then the suspect got on southbound highway 280. at that time, the california highway patrol took over the chase which reached speeds of

100 miles an hour. the driver of the stolen cab went all the way to pacifica, turned around and ended up on the san francisco state university campus. he slowed down enough to jump out while the cab was still moving and take off on foot. >> he was dressed in all black. he had a hood on, a hat under the hood. he was just looking at me. >> police just drove that stolen cab away a few minutes ago and cleared the scene. their suspect again is still on the loose. we are live at san francisco state university. i'm arturo santiago, "today in the bay." breaking news. monthly jobs report just released. this is for scott mcgrew in the newsroom with the details. it doesn't look good. >> it looks absolutely terrible. there is thumb's down, and double thumb's down. what we are looking at is 88,000 jobs created in the month of march. the unemployment rate falls to 7.6% but as i tell you each month and i have for ten years,

ignore the unemployment number, the percentage there. it is the number of jobs added in the month. so what in the world happened if economists were talking just a few minutes ago about 200,000 jobs they expected added in the month of march. that's something we'll have to look through, the numbers. the numbers came out, i mean, what, about 45 seconds ago. we're talking about the raw top-level numbers here. 88,000 jobs added. jo jon and laura, that's a terrible number. that's almost irrelevant. we are going to look at the participation rate, the number of people looking for new jobs must have fallen. we'll continue to look at these numbers and figure out what's going on. again, this is less than half of what most economists were looking for. >> not nice. all right. thank you very much. >> 5:33 right now. a specific gentleman trying to get the job done today. the world champion giants getting their game into high gear today. >> the home opener just hours

picking up the ball and carrying it, it will be out toward center field or right center. we could be talking about a panda splash down for the home opener. these boys know how to work this field. you notice those flags are not moving at all. >> so yesterday, we picked up over an inch of rain up in the north bay. we are expecting some low level moisture to tip to produce a little bit of showers as we head through the morning hours. thick fog as well. overall, we are talking about a mix of sun and clouds later on today. a good-looking weekend. a chance for showers as we head through tomorrow morning. as we head through sunday, a little rain in the morning, a nice afternoon. another impressive system on the way. i'm going to time that out for you coming up. we will have showers around for the weekend. you will be able to get outdoors for a few hours saturday and sunday afternoon. out here live, once more, at at&t park, as you can see right now, it is quiet.

officer into a hero. the off-duty officer literally jumped into action to stop an attack on a tsa officer. this morning, we're hearing from him for the first time. marla tallez with his reaction to some pretty amazing video. one of the great things about this story, it was all caught on tape. the officer is justin rogers out of the punol police department e was on his way back to the bay area after a relaxing vacation in hawaii. he was trying to get through security when he notices this, a tsa officer. here, it is coming. to do her job, she is guarding the passenger exit. she is suddenly attacked by this woman out of nowhere. this woman starts punching her and hitting her. they struggle for about ten seconds or so and we're just letting you see this. now, out of nowhere, you are going to see it, here comes officer rogers. he just clears that glass barrier, strong arms the woman, takes her down. you will see him throw up his arms and let everybody know,

yes, he has this handled. everything is under control. you will also notice here, he was only wearing his socks, because he had just taken off his shoes to get through security. the 39-year-old is very humble saying he was just doing what any person would do in his situation. >> in this case, police officer or not, the woman was being assaulted, was defenseless, had her arms up trying to defend herself and somebody needed to help her. luckily, i was close enough to be able to help her. >> rogers actions also being noticed by the tsa. they released a statement saying they are grateful rogers was there to subdue this woman. it turns out the woman is homeless. she was arrested and taken to a hospital for mentally valuation. as for the tsa officer, other than a few bumps and bruises, she is not seriously hurt. a good end to this story. laura and jon. >> pretty dramatic video. >> that officer must have been the high-jump champion in high school the way he cleared that wall. let's take it out to at&t

we do have one accident on the bay bridge itself at the treasure island exit. this is westbound. a hit and run. if you take the bay bridge approach, use caution approaching that particular location. typical slowdowns along 4 approaching pittsburg. it slows all the way until pittsburg. another slow spot that we typically see. the pass starting to slow. once the cars get off the other arteries and highways, 880 moving through oakland, moving smoothly. that was yourour troubled spot yesterday. lots of cars moving in from 101 northbound. you can see things are moving smoothly in palo alto as well. thank you very much. it is 5:46. some sad news here. the san jose paramedic shot in the head by a drive-by has unfortunately died. the hunt does continue for the

gunman. police say quinn boyer was attacked on tuesday morning after visiting his father's home in oakland when he stopped at the intersection of keller and hanson drive. a gunman in another car shot him. boyer hit the gas pedal propelling his car over the median right into a nearby ravine. boyer did work for the santa clara county ambulance company for two years. investigators at this point don't know if this was a robbery or an attempted carjacking or maybe even road rage. there have been no arrests so far in the oakland police right now asking for any kind of help in capturing boyer's killer. >> friends of a 16-year-old musician killed by a train will honor his memory. donye jonakin was clipped by a train as he walked home. his family says he was a talented musician. tonight, students will hold a memorial and fund-raiser for his family at san jose's lincoln high school where he was a

junior. donations from tonight's event will help offset funeral costs. >> a preschool that came under fire last month after a teacher was accused of tying up a toddler is now once again in that spotlight. authorities telling the contra costa times they have received reports of another incident at center point christian preschool. this time focusing on a teacher that pinched a young boy. that teacher named in the complaint no longer works at the school. they closed for several days of staff training after it was revealed a teach are at that school actually tied up a toddler's hands and feet with tape because the toddler refused to take a nap. >> affordable housing again today after an early why he proposal drew criticism from nans. they will discuss ten possible sites for affordable housing. the original plan presented in january was too clustered in their neighborhoods and needed

now, i know you have seen these sorts of things before. here it is close-up. at&t sells one. verizon sells one. what's different about this. two major factors. first of all, it is dirt cheap. it is $79. secondly, for $14 a month, you are going to get four gigabytes of access. that's a lot of access. to the sharing part. that's the super important part. when you share your wi-fi signal, the person who jumps on your wi-fi signal at the airport, at the train section, gets 100 megabytes of access for free. it doesn't come out of your account. then, you get an additional 100 megabytes for your own account, which is very cool. now, i tried this at a big, big conference where you think 1 gillion people would jump on. not that many did, enough to give me some free access. i'm not totally positive the sharing thing is going to work out for this company. i'll be honest.

did drive that cab, that stolen cab away, as they cleared the scene. let's take tout video of the actual p yoursuit. the chase reached speeds of up to 100 miles an hour. this all started after 2:00 this morning in the south of market area. san francisco police found the stolen cab. the driver took off leading officers through surface streets. the suspect got on southbound highway 280 and the california highway patrol took over the chase. the driver eventually ended up on the san francisco state university campus where he did jump out of the cab while it was still in drive and still moving. that suspect took off on foot and the cab rolled into a metal pole which is a traffic barrier. we see this taxi cab roll up. it slams into the parking poll here. soon enough, a cop runs in behind him. >> at this point, police still have not been able to findha
